Although Telegram terminated its blockchain project Telegram Open Network (TON) in May 2020, the TON testnet has been running for almost a year.
In an update on July 6, Telegram’s official TON development team announced that it will stop supporting the TON testnet. The remaining TON validators will be shut down on August 1st. In this post, TON officials advise network participants to save all relevant data and stop their testing process.
Although the testnet will be shut down in less than a month, network participants can continue to experiment after the testnet shuts down. To do this, users can install their own testnet validators, which are described in more detail in three separate how-to documents that contain guidelines for full nodes, validators, and testing Grams.
