The initiative is led by Democratic Congressman Lee Soo-jin. Representatives from the Blockchain Law Association and blockchain media in South Korea will also participate in the workshop.

Congress has passed a special bill aimed at introducing a reporting system for digital asset businesses, including customer identification and establishing obligations to prevent money laundering.

If the government signs the law, the new anti-money laundering law could be issued as early as March 2021 to block cryptocurrency transactions related to the illegal dark web.
