Binance Security Incident Recovery Update: New Reserve Snapshot Planned for November 4
Odaily Report: According to an official announcement, Binance has released an update on its security incident recovery. The zero-knowledge proof for the October 31 reserve proof snapshot has been generated, and users can now complete independent verification. It has been confirmed that the affected assets have been fully replenished through Binance's own funds. Currently, BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD, and ZEC all have 100% full reserve backing. Meanwhile, we completed a new round of reserve proof snapshot at 08:00 on October 31, 2026 (UTC+8) to show users the latest asset reserve status and further enhance transparency. Binance plans to generate a new reserve snapshot on November 04, 2026, and expand token coverage, after which an updated complete zero-knowledge proof will be generated. Due to the large computational workload, it is expected to take approximately 40 to 50 hours to complete.
Trump: If Democrats Retake Congress, Will Consider Preemptive Pardons for Musk and His Associates
Odaily: U.S. President Trump stated that if Democrats regain control of Congress after the midterm elections, he is willing to offer preemptive pardons to Musk and his associates to protect them from congressional investigations. In an interview, Trump dismissed claims that Democrats might push to nationalize Musk's SpaceX, but said he would protect the billionaire entrepreneur and any aides targeted by congressional investigators, including Edward Coristine, who was involved in cutting government programs at Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).Trump confirmed that such protective measures could include granting pardons in advance if necessary. Former U.S. President Biden previously granted preemptive pardons to his son Hunter Biden and several government officials who might face retaliation from Trump's second administration. Trump cited this as justification for his commitment to protecting his associates. Trump said: "That's what Biden did. He pardoned everybody." He also mentioned Biden's pardons for individuals who assisted in investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. (Bloomberg)
The Justice Department under Trump breaks decades of precedent by intervening in midterm elections in advance
Odaily reports: The U.S. Department of Justice under President Donald Trump is intervening in Tuesday's midterm elections in an unprecedented manner, directly inserting itself into election disputes through lawsuits and criminal investigations before ballots have been counted and results certified. This approach breaks the Justice Department's decades-long tradition of avoiding the appearance of using law enforcement power to help a particular party or candidate, and has raised concerns that the government may use it to influence election outcomes. In California, the Justice Department has asked a court to exclude approximately 20,000 voters' mail-in ballots on the grounds that these voters may not be U.S. citizens and therefore are not eligible to vote. The Justice Department has also demanded that state authorities provide relevant records to cooperate with a criminal investigation. California officials said they have already taken measures to prevent non-citizens from voting and argued that the Justice Department has no authority to block these ballots from being counted. As of now, courts have dismissed the Justice Department's related lawsuits against California and Alaska, but the Justice Department has appealed the ruling in the Alaska case. These cases highlight the Justice Department's willingness to intervene in election disputes before ballots are counted and results are certified.
Analysis: Bitcoin Implied Volatility Curve Shows a "Bump," Market Focuses on U.S. Midterm Elections
Odaily Report: Crypto market traders expect the U.S. midterm elections to trigger short-term volatility but are unlikely to cause sustained turbulence. The implied volatility (IV) term structure for Bitcoin options shows that options expiring on November 4 have an IV of approximately 43.5%, notably higher than the roughly 36% level for contracts expiring afterward, indicating that the market is pricing in volatility from early voting results and media projections following election day. Ethereum options show a similar pattern, with the IV curve expected to decline to around 36% in late November.Meanwhile, Bitcoin and Ethereum futures open interest remained largely stable over the past 24 hours, at approximately $58 billion and $23.58 billion respectively, suggesting traders prefer hedging existing positions through options rather than adding new futures bets. Laevitas noted that demand for downside protection may dissipate quickly after the election event concludes, and the bump in the IV curve may disappear accordingly. In the market, Bitcoin and Ethereum are currently above $78,000 and $2,290 respectively, having rebounded from lows following last Friday's attack on Binance. Alex Thorn, Head of Research at Galaxy, noted that Bitcoin has closed above its 50-week moving average for the seventh consecutive week, demonstrating strong resilience. However, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of approximately $643 million last Friday, the largest single-day net outflow since June, which remains worth monitoring. (CoinDesk)
