Final rule sent to White House for review, U.S. Department of Labor plans to include alternative assets in 401(k)
Odaily reports: The U.S. Department of Labor's final rule aimed at facilitating the inclusion of alternative assets such as private equity, real estate, and cryptocurrencies in retirement plans was sent to the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) for review on Thursday and is currently still under review. The Department of Labor published the related proposal on March 30, stipulating that fiduciaries can obtain legal safe harbor protection when they satisfy six factors: investment performance, fees, liquidity, valuation, performance benchmarks, and complexity.
