Algorand Appoints Former Chainlink Executive William Herkelrath as CEO, Advancing Institutional Finance and Quantum-Resistant Initiatives
Odaily News – The Algorand Foundation has appointed William Herkelrath as Chief Executive Officer, who officially succeeded Staci Warden on August 31 after her nearly five-year tenure. Herkelrath previously worked at blockchain oracle project Chainlink and crypto custody company Curv, and most recently co-founded AI automation platform K3 Labs. He will be responsible for driving Algorand's expansion into institutional finance and strengthening its technical efforts to address potential threats from quantum computing. Herkelrath stated that Algorand's quantum-resistant accounts are already in active use, and that this capability is not merely at the roadmap stage. Algorand has added post-quantum signature support in its v42 consensus upgrade, with accounts employing the Falcon-1024 signature system based on lattice cryptography. Additionally, Herkelrath and Alex Fowler, Chief Strategy Officer at Nexus Laboratories, will join the board of directors, while Rebecca Rettig and Michael Mosier will be stepping down.
损失约620万美元,Realio遭攻击致1.279亿枚RIO被盗
Odaily Planet Daily News: Realio Network, a platform for tokenized issuance and management of RWA assets, was attacked on August 25. The attacker hijacked the platform's signature stack and stole 127.9 million RIO tokens from treasury and custody wallets across five chains — Ethereum, BNB Chain, Algorand, Stellar, and Realio's native chain — worth approximately $6.2 million. About $317,000 of the stolen funds have been cashed out so far. Previously, the platform used a single hot signer via realio[.]fund to centrally manage treasury, reserves, and user-custodied sub-accounts. Once the attacker gained access to the relevant permissions, they could directly sign transfers across multiple chains without requiring user approval or key reconfiguration, and no smart contract vulnerability was involved. Realio officially stated that the platform has been suspended, with all user wallet deposits and withdrawals halted. The team is formulating a recovery plan and verifying event details, while also cooperating with law enforcement to identify the attacker.

StarkWare Releases Starknet Quantum Resistance Roadmap
Odaily reported that zero-knowledge scaling company StarkWare has released a Starknet quantum resistance roadmap, stating that the roadmap is divided into three phases to address the risk of future quantum computing attacks. StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson stated that Starknet can leverage its architectural advantages to achieve quantum resistance, as its underlying cryptography is based on zero-knowledge STARK proofs. According to reports, the first phase of the roadmap includes replacing part of the existing secure mathematical mechanism, Pedersen hash, with a quantum-resistant version, and adding quantum-resistant signatures; the second phase focuses on migration tools, upgrading existing smart contracts without requiring developers to manually rebuild applications; the third phase involves dependencies that Starknet cannot solve alone, primarily relying on Ethereum's quantum upgrade roadmap. Circle, Ethereum, Solana, Tezos, and Algorand have all proposed quantum resistance roadmaps. (Cointelegraph)
Algorand Releases Quantum-Resistant Upgrade Roadmap, Aiming for Full-Chain Quantum Security by 2027–2028
Odaily Planet Daily News: The Algorand Foundation has released a quantum-resistant upgrade roadmap, planning to initiate a series of protocol upgrades in 2026 and achieve the network's overall "quantum security" capability by the end of 2027 to 2028, in response to the potential threat that future quantum computing poses to existing cryptographic systems. The roadmap shows that the first phase will introduce a post-quantum account system, multi-signature wallets, and staking support, followed by a gradual upgrade of core protocol components to achieve a comprehensive cryptographic migration from the wallet layer to the infrastructure. It is reported that multiple public blockchain ecosystems, including the Ethereum Foundation and Solana, have also initiated similar research into post-quantum cryptography and migration planning.
