a16z and DeFi Education Fund Send Letter to SEC, Proposing DEX Exemption from Exchange Registration
Odaily reports: a16z and the DeFi Education Fund jointly submitted a proposal to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce, recommending the establishment of a safe harbor rule that creates a "rebuttable presumption" that decentralized exchange (DEX) protocols and their front-end interfaces do not constitute "exchanges" as defined under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. On the same day, a16z submitted a separate letter calling on the SEC to establish a registration regime for centralized crypto trading platforms, modeled after the 1998 Alternative Trading System (ATS) rules. Both letters were dated September 14, and three days later, the SEC issued an "innovation exemption" for tokenized equity trading venues.
Ignas: Meme coins are a "one-cycle trade," and fading hype often means death
Odaily reports: DeFi researcher Ignas posted on X platform stating that the hype around Robinhood's meme coins and tokenized stocks is waning, with its tokenized stock TVL having remained flat for two consecutive weeks, and the number of burned shares now exceeding the issuance volume. Ignas further stated that if trading volume continues to slow, declining yields could weaken holders' willingness to hold, increase selling pressure, and lead to LP exits and further liquidity contraction. He revealed that he has already exited related LP positions due to the significant drop in yields, and believes the market needs a new catalyst to reignite momentum. At the same time, he noted that tokenized stocks on Solana appear to still be rising, and speculated that the trend of capital rotating from Robinhood to Solana may be more sustainable.Ignas added that meme coins are a "one-cycle trade"—investors can trade them but should not hold them long-term. WIF was a representative meme coin of the previous cycle, but its price performance and market attention have both declined significantly, and once a meme coin loses market attention, it often signals the end of its run; FARTCOIN faces a similar situation. DOGE is one of the few exceptions that has spanned two cycles, but it is no longer a strong performer either. The short lifecycle of meme coins contrasts with Bitcoin, which can continuously generate new market narratives, and he reminded investors not to develop long-term holding reliance on meme coins like ZCAT and CASHCAT.
Merge into Frontier as Camelot and Cypher pivot to Uniswap v4 infrastructure
Odaily reports: DeFi protocols Camelot and Cypher have announced their integration under a new brand, Frontier, focused on building programmable market infrastructure based on the Uniswap v4 Hooks mechanism. Together, the two had previously processed over $100 billion in spot trading volume across Arbitrum and Ethereum, and supported the launch of more than 45 projects; 15% of the total supply of Frontier's token FRONT will be allocated to holders of both parties, and GRAIL, xGRAIL, CYPH, and xCYPH holders can migrate within 30 days. Frontier has already launched on Robinhood Chain, with plans to expand to Ethereum mainnet and Arbitrum, while Camelot and Cypher will gradually cease independent operations.

0G Launches ComFi, an AI Compute Finance Layer, and Will Introduce Ascend and Infinite AI
Odaily reports: According to official sources, 0G has launched Compute Finance, a financial layer built around AI compute, and has rolled out Ascend, a liquid staking product. It plans to launch Infinite AI, a compute-based digital asset, on September 29. Users can stake 0G to obtain a0G, mint and stake iAI to obtain compute credits; under the initial parameters, eligible iAI stakers can receive daily compute credits with a notional usage value exceeding $1, which can be used for products such as 0G Private Computer and 0G App. Compute credits are limited to designated AI services, cannot be redeemed for cash, and do not represent interest or guaranteed returns.Michael Heinrich, co-founder and CEO of 0G, said that equity brought dividends, proof of work brought a new way to participate in incentives, and DeFi expanded the utility of digital assets, while Compute Finance connects digital assets with the right to use AI compute. Ascend and Infinite AI are the first implementations of this approach.
Over $500,000 in Assets Stolen, Attackers Forge Uniswap-Related ENS Names to Execute Arbitrage Bot Scam
Odaily Report: According to on-chain detective Specter, the attackers behind this campaign provided so-called arbitrage bot tutorials and code through YouTube videos, and guided victims to use a counterfeit Remix development interface to compile and deploy contracts. The attackers registered ENS names containing "Uniswap" to disguise the related addresses as legitimate incoming fund sources from DeFi activity, leading victims to believe that the deployed arbitrage bot was profiting through Uniswap. After victims injected their own assets into the contracts, the funds were transferred away by the attackers. The attackers currently appear to still be active and hold a substantial portion of the stolen funds in two addresses.
Brian Armstrong: Responds to WSJ's Attempt to Blame Coinbase and Himself for CLARITY Act Failure
Odaily reports that Brian Armstrong posted on X platform stating that The Wall Street Journal is preparing an article that blames Coinbase and himself for the CLARITY Act's failure to pass. Armstrong said that in January, he opposed a draft bill submitted for committee vote because it still had major issues regarding DeFi, tokenization, CFTC jurisdiction, and stablecoin rewards; after collaborative revisions from multiple parties, all four of these issues were resolved, and the revised draft passed committee review approximately four months later. Armstrong stated that he strongly supports the final version of the CLARITY Act submitted to the Senate and will continue to push for cryptocurrency regulatory rules.
