A Rabby user successfully recovered funds locked due to the 2023 Multichain incident.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, Rabby Wallet announced that a user has recovered 85,740 USDC that had been held in Multichain since 2023. Users can track and retrieve assets left over from DeFi protocols, even if the original front-end has become invalid. In 2023, the cross-chain protocol Multichain collapsed, resulting in a large-scale abnormal asset outflow, totaling approximately $125 million to $130 million. The status of the remaining assets was unknown, and most users were unable to withdraw their funds. In May 2025, the Singapore High Court approved the Multichain Foundation's liquidation application. As the liquidation process progressed, some previously frozen or locked funds were gradually made available for withdrawal, especially assets that were not transferred by hackers or seized by law enforcement.

A New York court granted Multichain's liquidators' request to extend the freeze on the stolen USDC addresses.
According to Odaily, a New York court has granted a request for interim relief filed by the Singapore liquidator on behalf of the Multichain Foundation, ordering Circle to continue freezing three wallet addresses involved in the hacking attack until further notice. This measure will prevent the transfer of USDC from these wallets. According to court documents, Circle implemented the freeze by adding the relevant addresses to a blacklist mechanism within the USDC smart contract. Multichain previously suffered a $210 million cross-chain bridge attack in July 2023, which included the theft of approximately $63 million in USDC. Earlier this year, Multichain entered liquidation proceedings in Singapore in an effort to recover the stolen assets. The court held that this interim relief is an effective mechanism for maintaining the security of assets in cross-border bankruptcy cases and helps promote judicial cooperation between U.S. and foreign courts. Previously, the U.S. Department of Justice had requested Circle to freeze the addresses involved, but withdrew the seizure order due to the inability to confirm the hacker's identity. According to other reports, a group of U.S. investors have filed a class-action lawsuit against Circle regarding the same batch of stolen USDC, and both parties have agreed to maintain the account freeze during the litigation. A New York court extended an asset freeze order to assist with the liquidation of Multichain in Singapore.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, a New York judge temporarily extended the freeze on wallets holding approximately $63 million worth of stolen USDC stablecoins on Thursday, supporting the request of the Singapore liquidators of the defunct cryptocurrency cross-chain bridge Multichain. Judge David S. Jones ordered Circle to keep three Ethereum wallets frozen and to retain the dollar reserves backing the stolen USDC. The liquidator warned that lifting the freeze order in the state court would cause "irreparable damage." The order also suspended another class-action lawsuit filed by a group of U.S. investors attempting to gain control of the funds. Last Friday, the case was transferred to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York after Circle invoked the Fair Class Action Act. Under Section 1519 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, this order is provisional, and the court will review whether the Singapore liquidation proceedings meet the criteria for a “major foreign procedure” to regulate cross-border bankruptcy cooperation. Singapore Court Approves Sonic Labs’ Application to Liquidate Multichain Foundation
Odaily News On May 9, the Singapore High Court ruled to approve Sonic Labs' application to liquidate the Multichain Foundation. KPMG was appointed as the liquidator to handle the liquidation of the foundation's assets. The ruling stems from the July 2023 hacking incident on Multichain, which resulted in the loss of assets on multiple chains including Fantom and Ethereum, with a total amount of more than $210 million. Michael Kong, CEO of Sonic Labs, said that the company had to take legal action because former Multichain employees refused to cooperate with the investigation. The liquidator will initiate an asset recovery process, and if the funds are successfully recovered, they will be returned to the affected users. Multichain ceased operations in July 2024, and its CEO was previously detained by the police. (Cointelegraph)
