Hackathon Summary
Hack 49 brought together developers to create 42 innovative projects to solve global challenges. The event, which took place from October 19 to October 21, encouraged participants to develop solutions in waste management, medical errors, and privacy and data protection. Notable submissions included an integrated system to improve hospital safety, a data security platform, and sustainable waste treatment technology. Participants worked in teams of up to four or independently, showcasing their work through GitHub repositories and demo videos.
Grand Prize winners received theme awards in addition to additional cash prizes, 3D printers, and mentorship opportunities. Projects were judged individually within each theme, with prizes awarded to the top three in each category. Special recognition was given to projects that excelled in the area of NeuroTech, with winners receiving technology kits to explore further.
The collaborative environment of Hack 49, supported by industry experts, mentors and judges, fosters the exchange of ideas and innovation. This global movement aims to inspire technology solutions with real-world impact, highlighting the promise of solving key societal challenges.

ALI : An AI-driven tool that improves Alzheimer’s detection by analyzing speech patterns, offering a mobile app for continuous cognitive health monitoring aimed at reducing diagnostic errors.
Surge Stitch : An automated suturing system that uses a non-invasive “skin-extrasuturing cord” technology to enhance wound closure precision, thereby significantly reducing surgical complications and recovery time.

Olach : A privacy-focused note-taking app that stores data locally with plans to enhance security with AES encryption and optional cloud backup.
SafeSearchAI : An AI-powered search engine focused on privacy that leverages K-anonymity and AI-enhanced search results to provide a safe browsing experience.
FishAlert : A real-time scam detection tool that provides speech-to-text conversion and AI-generated responses to improve online safety during calls.
