Hackathon Summary
SheHacks+ 9 was held by Women in Technology Society (WITS+) on January 10, 2025. The Hackathon aims to promote diverse leadership in the tech industry by inviting women and non-binary people from across the country to participate.
With 47 projects registered, the event focused on creating a supportive environment to fully tap into the technical capabilities of participants. In line with the mission of WITS+, empowering women in technology through skill development, experiential learning, and industry connections. Following the MLH Code of Conduct, the Hackathon promoted inclusivity, embraced participants from all backgrounds, and enhanced the innovative potential of its diverse participants. The results of the 47 projects highlight the success of the Hackathon in inspiring technological advancement and community engagement.

Best Hardware Hack Award Winner
SpaceInAccessibility : Combining AI and hardware to enable real-time ASL translation for deaf astronauts, using gesture recognition and tactile sensor activation to enable seamless communication in space.
Best Beginner Hack Award Winner
Dance it, Post it! : Use MediaPipe and OpenCV to track dance movements through a webcam, combining React frontend and Python backend for real-time analysis and feedback.

Overall 1st Place: SpaceInAccessibility
Overall 2nd place: pantrypixie : Addresses food waste by scanning receipts and tracking expiration dates, using Python and AI to provide recipe suggestions and a digital pantry interface.
Overall 3rd place: SqWiTs Game : Use YOLOv 5 and Databricks to combat mobile phone addiction and provide a gamified interface to manage distractions.

Overall 2nd place: dire : A web app for managing to-do lists and habit tracking with interactive rewards to stay focused and clear.
Overall 3rd place: Space Cruise+ : Provides a space mission management system with local storage capabilities and support for specific mission lists.

DevSpeak : A Chrome extension that uses AI to translate technical terms into easy-to-understand language, facilitating communication between technical and non-technical teams.
