Former Mt.Gox CEO Questions Ledger's Security Claims as Contradicting Technical Documentation, Alleging Consumer Misleading
Odaily: Mark Karpelès, former CEO of Mt.Gox, posted on the X platform, questioning that Ledger's statements about hardware wallet security contradict its official technical documentation.Karpelès pointed out that Ledger customer service previously claimed that the secure element chip is capable of detecting physical tampering and signal interception by additional hardware implants, but Ledger's official documentation explicitly states that when the secure element chip remains intact, the genuine check cannot identify unauthorized physical modifications, including malicious implants. In addition, Ledger had shown photos of such implants in an Academy article in March 2026. Karpelès believes this indicates that Ledger was previously aware of and had documented the relevant security threats, and that its external security claims directly contradict its technical documentation, allegedly misleading consumers.
