Bancor files patent infringement lawsuit against Uniswap
Odaily News Decentralized exchange Bancor has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Uniswap, accusing it of unauthorized use of the "Constant Product Automated Market Maker" (CPAMM) technology that Bancor patented in 2017. Bancor said the technology was designed in 2016 and patented in January 2017. Uniswap's protocol, launched in November 2018, was accused of using the invention. Bancor project leader Mark Richardson said Bancor had to take action because Uniswap continued to use its invention without authorization and compete with Bancor. The lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, seeking damages. As of press time, Uniswap has not yet responded publicly. According to DefiLlama data, Uniswap far exceeds Bancor in terms of 24-hour trading volume. (Cointelegraph)
Uniswap is sued by Bancor for allegedly infringing DEX smart contract technology patents
Odaily News The developers behind Bancor have filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Uniswap Labs and the Uniswap Foundation, accusing them of illegally using their underlying decentralized trading platform technology. The lawsuit was filed by the Bprotocol Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the development of the Bancor protocol, and LocalCoin Ltd., the original developer of Bancor. It has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, accusing the Uniswap protocol of being built on Bancor’s patented constant product automated market maker (CPAMM) infrastructure. Bancor said that it developed a decentralized trading mechanism without an order book in 2016 and applied for related patents in 2017. Uniswap has continued to use this technology since its launch in 2018. Failure to protect intellectual property rights is crucial to the DeFi innovation ecosystem. If the core technology is used without authorization, it will have a negative impact on the development of the industry. (The Block)

Texas judge dismisses class action lawsuit against DeFi project Bancor, ruling it is not subject to U.S. jurisdiction
Odaily News A federal judge in Texas dismissed a securities class action lawsuit against the operator of the DeFi project Bancor Protocol. Judge Robert Pittman agreed with the judge, ruling that the plaintiffs failed to prove that the U.S. court had jurisdiction over the foreign defendants. The ruling indicated that Bancor's foreign operations were not subject to U.S. securities laws and that the plaintiffs could not sue Bancor in the United States for its suspended investment protection features. The judge also noted that Bancor and its founders did not have sufficient ties to the United States and suggested that the plaintiffs could sue in Israeli courts.
