Polymarket early investor Haseeb refutes reports of founder misappropriating funds, calls it a smear piece
Odaily reports: Haseeb Qureshi posted that recent reports claiming Polymarket founder Shayne Coplan was "caught red-handed misappropriating company funds" are "a complete smear piece." He stated that Shayne did not take a salary in the early days of the startup, working from an apartment at age 21 and barely keeping operations afloat; his fund was the first term sheet Polymarket received, and he had even proactively offered Shayne a personal loan. Haseeb said that each expense Shayne disclosed, annualized, amounts to roughly the annual salary of a software engineer, includes travel, and none were personal trips; the related bookkeeping and repayment process was initiated by Shayne himself, and the funds were ultimately fully repaid to the company and converted to normal salary.
Haseeb said this is an accounting issue rather than an integrity issue, and stated that as an investor he has full confidence in Shayne.
