Polkadot co-founder Dr. Gavin Wood joins Real Vision Crypto Associate Editor Sebastian Moonjava to discuss Polkadot, Kusama, and the evolving crypto space.

Gavin explained that Polkadot was created to accelerate innovation in the blockchain space and reduce the effort required to launch, secure new blockchains, and connect with others. He described Polkadot as a Layer0 technology, a meta-protocol that is more abstract and flexible than Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Gavin also talked about Kusama, which uses the same technology as Polkadot, but has a completely different development philosophy. Kusama is a chain that iterates faster and is more experimental, like a "canary network", a truly valuable and dynamic chain that allows for the rapid development of technology.

The rococo-v1 branch has been updated and includes the new Rococo chain specification. Rotki has submitted a delivery report for Motion 245 Milestone 1. Rotki is an open source portfolio tracker, calculation and analysis tool that protects everyone's privacy. After several requests from users to integrate Kusama Network into Rotki, the Rotki team has completed milestone 1 of the integration work.
