Matrixdock's tokenized gold XAUm launches on Arc, becoming its first tokenized gold asset
BIT (formerly Matrixport)'s RWA tokenization platform Matrixdock has announced that its tokenized gold XAUm is now officially live on Arc, the Layer-1 blockchain built by Circle, making it the first tokenized gold asset on Arc. At the same time, eligible XAUm redemptions can receive USDC redemption proceeds on the same day, subject to meeting the relevant terms and requirements; XAUm/USDC liquidity has also been made available through Uniswap.
This means that XAUm's launch on Arc is not merely a new network deployment. As physical gold reserves, USDC liquidity, and on-chain markets become further connected, gold—a traditional reserve asset—is beginning to move from on-chain "holding" toward more application scenarios such as settlement, trading, and collateralization.

Gold Enters On-Chain Finance, Beyond Just "Going On-Chain"
Gold has always been an important reserve asset in the global financial system. According to European Central Bank (ECB) data, as of the end of 2025, gold accounted for 27% of global official reserves. As on-chain markets continue to mature, demand for reserve assets beyond the US dollar is also increasing. Whether for asset diversification, collateralization, or balance sheet management, the role gold plays in the traditional financial system provides a natural foundation for its entry into on-chain markets.
But the problem is that traditional gold was not designed for on-chain finance. For a long time, gold ownership, custody, and settlement have been distributed across different systems, forming a relatively independent infrastructure around physical gold bars and precious metals accounts, still somewhat distant from the programmable on-chain dollar system.
What XAUm connects is precisely these two originally separate systems. Each XAUm corresponds to 1 troy ounce of physical gold with 99.99% purity, sourced directly from LBMA Good Delivery refiners and held in allocated form in professional vaults operated by Brink's and Malca-Amit in Hong Kong and Singapore. On the reserve verification level, XAUm provides token-to-gold-bar allocation records, monthly reserve asset reports, and on-chain Proof of Reserves, with independent physical audits conducted by Bureau Veritas.
At the same time, Hong Kong and Singapore are also accelerating the construction of next-generation gold settlement infrastructure, with Hong Kong planning to increase its gold storage capacity to over 2,000 tonnes within the next three years. XAUm's physical reserves are located within this expanding Asian gold infrastructure, and its launch on Arc further connects this real-world reserve asset with an open blockchain network oriented toward financial markets and on-chain economic activity.
From T+2 to Same-Day USDC Redemption: How Gold Connects with On-Chain Dollars
If "gold going on-chain" addresses how assets enter the blockchain, then another more practical question is: after entering the chain, how can gold connect more efficiently with digital dollars and on-chain markets?
Traditional London gold typically settles on a T+2 basis. For unallocated metal, which is essentially a claim on a bullion bank, settlement is completed through book entries between clearing accounts; once physical delivery outside London is involved, this settlement cycle no longer applies, and additional logistics and verification steps are required, with the related processes often measured in days.
After XAUm launched on Arc, this chain has a new way of connecting. For eligible XAUm redemptions, after submitting the required transaction credentials, holders can receive USDC redemption proceeds on the same day. This establishes a more efficient connection between tokenized gold and on-chain dollar liquidity, while not changing the underlying custody, sale, or settlement mechanisms of the physical gold.
Eva Meng, Head of Matrixdock, said: "For centuries, gold has been an institutional reserve asset, but holding gold and using gold have always been two different things. On Arc, gold and dollar liquidity are no longer separate from each other, but are in the same network, the same settlement layer, with same-day funding connectivity. This is changing how this 5,000-year-old asset operates."
Nikhil Chandhok, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Circle, said: "Tokenization can improve investors' capital efficiency and help asset issuers reach broader global markets, thereby improving some of the limitations of traditional market infrastructure. When tokenized assets are combined with the regulated and highly liquid stablecoin USDC and connected to institutional-grade on-chain markets, their application value is further enhanced. Matrixdock's launch of XAUm on Arc further enhances the on-chain application value of tokenized gold and expands its market coverage."
From "Holding Gold" to Trading, Lending, and Collateralization
Beyond settlement, liquidity is also an important part of gold's further entry into on-chain finance. Currently, XAUm/USDC liquidity has been made available through Uniswap, supporting on-chain exchange between tokenized gold and USDC on Arc.
On this basis, XAUm is also beginning to extend from simple gold holding to broader on-chain financial scenarios. Its deployment on Arc establishes a foundation for verifiable gold reserve assets to further participate in on-chain financial applications such as trading, lending, and collateralization. In the future, Matrixdock and third-party developers will continue to explore more applications, with relevant integrations to be announced by the respective service providers once conditions are met.
This is also part of Matrixdock's strategy to build an on-chain financial Reserve Layer. In addition to gold XAUm, Matrixdock also issues Matrixdock Silver (XAGm), bringing more verifiable real-world reserve assets on-chain and gradually building infrastructure that supports these assets for trading, settlement, and use as collateral.
From verifiable gold reserves to USDC liquidity, and then to more scenarios such as trading, lending, and collateralization, XAUm's launch on Arc also pushes the exploration of tokenized gold further from "asset on-chain" toward "on-chain applications."
